Showcasing over 80 artistic creations, the exhibitions will be held until October 15, 2025.
Sands China introduced two themed exhibitions for the Macao International Art Biennale 2025 on Tuesday, July 29. The first, titled Dopamine: Fountain of Happiness, is located at The Venetian Macao and features exquisite artworks created by internationally acclaimed contemporary artists in collaboration with Sesame Street. The second exhibition, Beyond the Frame: International Contemporary Masterpieces, is hosted at Sands Gallery.
Together, these exhibitions present more than 80 creative pieces that will be on public display until October 15. Cultural Affairs Bureau president Leong Wai Man remarked, “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale has blossomed into its fourth edition this year, after debuting in 2019. This year’s special exhibitions have scaled new heights, with Sands China’s Dopamine: Fountain of Happiness transforming the European architecture of The Venetian Macao into a theatrical stage that traverses space and time, where Asian, European, and American artistic forces converge, reinterpreting the eternal beauty of ancient Roman mythology with a contemporary touch.”
Macao, as a metropolitan hub for arts, invites audiences to stroll and engage freely with the exhibitions, co-creating the emotional connection of joy and happiness that the artistic environment at The Venetian Macao provides.
Dive into a Fountain of Happiness
The Dopamine: Fountain of Happiness exhibition is dedicated to rekindling happiness through the power of dopamine aesthetics, celebrated for vivid colors, boundless imagination, and the expression of positive emotions. This captivating showcase features nine remarkable artists from Asia, Europe, and the United States, such as Craig & Karl, Bibi Lei, GRAFFLEX, Hei Lok, Ilya Milstein, Jun Oson, Jonni Cheatwood, and Song Zhou. These artists have creatively transformed globally recognized Sesame Street characters into original artworks debuting at Art Macao 2025.
The exhibition aligns with Macao’s curatorial philosophy of Art + City, set against the stunning architectural backdrop of The Venetian Macao. Artists intertwine the themes of globally recognized Sesame Street characters with ancient Roman mythology and the vibrant palette of dopamine art, each showcasing their unique artistic vision. The culmination is a series of artwork designed exclusively for Macao, promoting genuine interactions with audiences across different mediums and cultures. The artwork, featuring the iconic Sesame Street characters, resonates strongly with this year’s theme through their colorful designs, captivating viewers’ hearts.
