Saudi's Hospitality Sector Grows with Aman’s Cliffside Retreat Near Diriyah

Saudi Arabia's hospitality landscape is rapidly evolving as Aman Group introduces a new ultra-luxury resort near Diriyah.

Saudi Arabia’s Rising Hospitality Landscape

Saudi Arabia’s tourism and hospitality sector is thriving. The Saudi Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with Oxford Economics, reported a hotel occupancy rate of 63% in Q1 2025, an increase from 60.9% the previous year. Approximately 39,000 new positions emerged in the industry in the same timeframe, bringing total tourism employment close to 983,000. The average hotel rate hovered around USD 127 (SAR 477).

Fueled by more than USD 1 trillion in projected tourism investments by 2030 under Vision 2030, the Kingdom is transforming its once barren landscapes into vibrant hubs of upscale hospitality, culture, and innovation. In this transformative era, Aman’s latest project—Amansamar—is both a response and a reflection of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious goals.

Peace and Luxury Near Diriyah

Amansamar is an ultra-luxury resort and residencies situated in Wadi Safar, close to Diriyah and Riyadh. This serene resort, whose name translates to “the peaceful acacia tree,” represents a sanctuary among the desert terrain. Designed by the renowned Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects, the 80-key hotel will showcase Aman’s core principles of minimalism, tranquility, and seclusion.

The architectural design will seamlessly integrate with the environment, making use of natural light and providing a harmonious connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

In addition to hotel accommodations, Amansamar will feature a limited number of Aman-branded residences—luxurious homes with five to six bedrooms. Each of these spacious properties, starting from 9,000 square meters, will be strategically positioned to ensure privacy while offering breathtaking views and abundant sunlight. Luxury amenities will include a comprehensive Aman Spa with a hammam, various culinary options, leisure facilities like a Racquet Club, multiple pools, and a Kids’ Club. Residents will also benefit from exclusive access to a Residence Club and invitations to Aman’s international members-only network in locations like Tokyo, New York, and Bangkok.

Establishing a Regional Trend

Amansamar joins a growing array of Aman locations throughout the region, including Janu Diriyah and Aman AlUla in Saudi Arabia and Aman Dubai and Janu Dubai in the UAE. Recently, Aman unveiled plans for Amangati, a 183-meter luxury yacht to be developed in partnership with Cruise Saudi, marking a new chapter for luxury tourism in Saudi Arabia.
