Thai AirAsia Celebrates 50 Years of Sino-Thai Relations with Unique Aircraft Design
Thai AirAsia marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Thailand with a brand new aircraft livery. This initiative involved collaboration with various government bodies, including the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Embassy of China in Thailand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
The newly designed livery, displayed on an Airbus A320 aircraft, will operate across several routes in Asia, reflecting AirAsia’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity.
AirAsia, known for having the most direct routes connecting Thailand and China, emphasizes its role in fostering relationships between the two nations. Santisuk Klongchaiya stated, “Thailand and China share a long-standing relationship across many dimensions, especially in tourism, where both countries are top destinations for each other’s travellers. Mutual visa exemptions have further facilitated seamless travel between us, and we take pride in our extensive network serving both major and secondary cities.”
Notably, along with its striking external design, the aircraft will also feature thematic in-flight materials celebrating this anniversary. A second aircraft with the same livery is expected to join the fleet next month.
Interweaving Cultural Symbols in Design
The vibrant design integrates the official emblem representing the 50th anniversary, featuring legendary creatures from both cultures: the dragon of China and the naga of Thailand. These mythical beings symbolize strength, prosperity, and long-lasting friendship. A heartfelt greeting in Thai and Chinese, สวัสดี - 你好, graces the aircraft, embodying its role as a flying ambassador for goodwill.
To celebrate the launch of this special livery, Thai AirAsia is offering promotional one-way flight fares starting at THB 500, available for booking from July 9 to July 13, for travel between July 28 and November 30 of the same year. Flights can be reserved through the official AirAsia website or the AirAsia MOVE app.
