Saudi Cultural Week in Osaka Celebrates Heritage and Diplomacy

The Saudi Ministry of Culture will host Cultural Week in Osaka, highlighting cultural exchanges and celebrating ties with Japan.

The Saudi Ministry of Culture is set to observe Saudi Cultural Week in Osaka, Japan, from 12th to 15th July at Expo-Gallery EAST.

Saudi Cultural Week reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering cultural dialogue and celebrating cultural heritage and intersections between the two nations, marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Japan.

The four-day program will include exhibitions, live demonstrations, and experiences showcasing Saudi heritage while encouraging cultural exchange with Japan. Organized by the Saudi Ministry of Culture, it features esteemed cultural entities such as the Heritage Commission, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts, the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy, the Saudi Artisanal Company, and the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives.

In addition to activities, the Saudi Pavilion at Expo will remain open throughout the event, offering further opportunities to explore the Kingdom’s culture and heritage.

What to expect during Saudi Cultural Week

Visitors will experience the Saudi Heritage Majlis, a traditional gathering space recognized by UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, accompanied by performances from a Saudi oud musician and a Japanese shamisen musician. The program will also feature live demonstrations of handicrafts highlighting the artistic traditions of both countries. A curated photographic exhibition by the King Abdulaziz Foundation will showcase significant moments in Saudi-Japanese relations over the past seven decades.
