Hwajing Travel & Tours Partners with Astro Ocean Cruise
The collaboration aims to enhance Malaysia's position as a key cruise destination in the region.
Malaysian travel firm Hwajing Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd has officially entered into a strategic partnership with China’s Astro Ocean Cruise to welcome the M/V Piano Land to Malaysia.
The signing ceremony at the Penang Port Commission was observed by Tourism Malaysia deputy chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, with the contract penned by Kenny Cheong, managing director of Hwajing Travel & Tours, and Jian-feng Tong, president of Astro Ocean Cruise. This collaboration aims to further establish Malaysia as a significant player in the regional cruise industry.
Aligned with a Vision
Yeoh expressed, “In keeping with Transport Minister Anthony Loke’s vision to position Malaysia as a premier homeport destination, we are determined to advance the nation’s cruise tourism strategy. By motivating travelers to commence and conclude their cruise journeys in Malaysia, we aspire to increase tourist numbers, create local job opportunities, and highlight Malaysia’s rich culture, heritage, and culinary offerings on a global scale. With proper strategic planning, cruise tourism has vast potential to generate lasting economic advantages and uplift communities nationwide.”
Cheong noted: “The arrival of the M/V Piano Land in Malaysia bolsters our commitment to making cruise vacations more accessible and enjoyable for both Malaysians and Southeast Asians. This landmark event coincides with our 36th anniversary this year. We are eager to contribute to the transformation of Malaysia into a vibrant hub for international cruises.”
This agreement marks the second significant international cruise partnership for Hwajing, following last year’s successful integration of an Italian cruise ship.
First in Malaysia
The M/V Piano Land is slated to embark on its inaugural journey on November 30 of this year, becoming the first Chinese cruise ship to be homeported in Malaysia.
Upcoming itineraries include a 3-day, 2-night journey (Penang – Port Klang – Penang) and a 4-day, 3-night voyage covering Penang, Langkawi, and Port Klang.
Passengers can depart from either Penang or Port Klang, enhancing convenience for Malaysian travelers and those from neighboring regions. The introduction of the M/V Piano Land homeporting is expected to invigorate tourism, support local economies, and provide Malaysians and nearby markets increased access to cruise vacations.
