New NAIA Infra Corporation Reports Rise in International Flights
The New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) has announced a significant rise in international flights at Manila’s primary airport as of July 1. This report highlights a growing number of airlines launching services through Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Shortly before this, the national carrier, Philippine Airlines, initiated direct flights to Da Nang, Vietnam after Cebu Pacific became the first airline to establish a direct route to the city in December 2023.
Quick Wins
In a recent statement, NNIC President Ramon Ang noted, “We are achieving quick wins by enhancing our systems, facilities, and passenger processing, enabling us to handle more flights and alleviate terminal congestion.”
International airlines such as Air France, Air Canada, and Vietjet Airlines have commenced new routes through the country’s main terminal, with new direct flights to places including Seattle (USA), Brisbane (Australia), Paris (France), Sapporo (Japan), and Vancouver (Canada).
Cebu Pacific has also launched non-stop services to Chiang Mai, Thailand, catering to the rising demand for travel options.
NNIC representatives have assured travelers to expect more routes throughout the year, with Air India starting direct services to New Delhi in October and United Airlines adding an additional daily flight to San Francisco.
These advancements underscore the effectiveness of ongoing modernization efforts aimed at streamlining operations to support growth at NAIA. Furthermore, several abandoned aircraft have been removed from the airport, increasing available parking and improving ground operations.
NNIC is also upgrading its check-in and baggage handling capabilities to expedite processes.
