Renfe Announces Over 22.5 Million Seats for Summer Travel in Spain
Renfe reveals plans to provide over 22.5 million seats for travelers during the summer months to enhance mobility for tourists.
Renfe has announced that they will provide over 22.5 million seats on all their trains during the summer period, which runs from June 30 to September 15. This extensive offer aims to ensure the mobility of tourists and residents who choose the train as their mode of transport for their summer vacations.
The popular destinations for travelers this year continue to be the Andalusian coast, the north of the country, and the Valencian Community, solidifying their positions as key points for national tourism. The company has significantly bolstered its services on high-speed and long-distance routes, providing over 8.8 million seats, an increase of half a million compared to last year, thanks to the addition of new trains and services starting in June.
Highlighted among the novelties is the introduction of series 106 units in Galicia and Castilla y León, benefiting nearly three million travelers, as well as the third frequency of the Alvia train between Badajoz and Madrid, stopping in Plasencia. Additionally, new direct AVE services have been launched between Madrid and Barcelona, as well as a novel high-speed service without transfers connecting Andalucía, Aragón, and Catalonia, making travel within the northern and eastern regions of the country even easier.
The high-speed corridor from Galicia to Madrid has seen a 90% increase in average seat availability compared to April 2024, also improving travel times by about 20 minutes to Santiago, Pontevedra, Vigo, and A Coruña, due to the arrival of trains with flexible running capabilities.
Moreover, Renfe has enhanced its public service offerings with over 13.7 million seats available on Avant and Medium Distance trains, along with Cercanías and Rodalies connections to bring small towns closer to major urban areas during the summer season.
With this initiative, Renfe reaffirms its commitment to connecting all regions of Spain, facilitating mobility, and promoting sustainable and accessible tourism for all travelers opting for trains as their preferred summer transport.
