Accor expands its presence in the Philippines through a collaboration with Megaworld, the largest township developer in the country.

The partnership brings Accor’s Mercure brand to the Philippines with the launch of Mercure Mactan Cebu in the fourth quarter of this year. This signing underscores Accor’s dedication to expanding its reach in key Asian markets, adding 550 rooms to its portfolio.

Andrew Langdon, Accor’s Chief Development Officer in Asia, stated, >“We are accelerating the growth of our Premium, Midscale & Economy (PM&E) Division with a focused strategy to expand in sought-after destinations across Asia. The Philippines remains a vital market for us, and the signing of Mercure Mactan Cebu aligns with our ambition to meet the increasing demand for hotels that cater to both leisure and business travelers.”

Mercure Mactan Cebu will enhance the Mactan Newtown development and play a significant role in driving tourism growth and stimulating the local economy. Mercure Mactan Cebu will be situated within Megaworld’s 30-hectare mixed-use township. This area includes the Mactan Newtown Beach, office spaces, retail outlets, and residential condominiums. Notably, the Mactan Expo is expected to become a major hub for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE), appealing to both Asian and domestic travelers.
