Waterbom Bali Achieves Significant Sustainability Milestones
Waterbom Bali has successfully reduced its landfill waste to an impressive 1.2% while advancing towards its Net Zero goals by 2033.
Waterbom Bali recently announced important strides in its sustainability initiatives, revealing that only 1.2% of total waste was sent to landfills in the first quarter of 2025. This accomplishment means that 98.8% of the waste was recycled or composted, reflecting a robust commitment to sustainability.
Through their organic waste management, the park converts waste into compost to support their vibrant garden whilst also reducing environmental footprint. This is one of several milestones achievable as part of their Net Zero target by 2033.
In harmony with World Environment Day on June 5, Waterbom Bali released its 2024 Sustainability Impact Report, showcasing progress in renewable energy, water conservation, waste reduction, and community engagement.
According to Sayan Gulino, Chief Executive of Waterbom Bali, “Sustainability isn’t just something we do. It’s who we are. This report reflects how far we’ve come and how we continue to evolve. Every decision we make is rooted in responsibility, guided by our respect for nature and our commitment to protecting what makes Bali so unique.”
In 2024, the park recorded 6,424 tonnes of CO₂ emissions across all scopes, but successfully mitigated these impacts by shifting entirely to renewable electricity among other sustainability efforts.
Highlights from 2024:
- Achieved 100% renewable electricity.
- Installed 123.54 kW of solar capacity generating 180,368 kWh annually.
- Reduced groundwater consumption by 14% compared to 2019.
- Diverted 95.14% of waste from landfills.
- Partnered to plant 24,687 native trees.
