IndiGo Launches New Direct Flights from Madurai to Abu Dhabi

IndiGo has announced the start of direct flights linking the culturally rich city of Madurai in Tamil Nadu to Abu Dhabi, effective June 13, 2025. This new route adds Madurai as the 16th Indian city to have direct connectivity with Abu Dhabi, following recent announcements of flights from Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam.

These tri-weekly flights will enhance IndiGo’s international connectivity and make global travel easier and more affordable for Indian travelers.

Connecting tier-2 cities like Madurai with vital global hubs will facilitate efficient export of agricultural products, textiles, and other significant goods to the UAE and beyond, thus supporting local businesses and stimulating economic expansion. The direct service will also reduce travel time for business travelers, students, and families, offering a more convenient travel experience.

Madurai, among India’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, is a historical gem known as the “Athens of the East.” It boasts the famous Meenakshi Amman Temple and is a significant center for textiles, education, and health care, with a flourishing presence in technology and manufacturing.
