Marriott Expands Portfolio with Acquisition of citizenM Hotel Brand

Marriott has announced the acquisition of citizenM, adding over 8,500 rooms in unique hotel locations worldwide.

Marriott is expanding its offerings by acquiring citizenM, a brand known for its modern and tech-centric hotels. This deal will see Marriott incorporate 36 establishments, adding more than 8,500 rooms across significant global cities, including New York, Paris, London, and Rome.

Unique Offerings of citizenM

Marriott’s acquisition, valued at $355 million, is designed to adapt to the needs of value-conscious travelers with hotels that feature smart designs and collaborative spaces. Following the deal’s completion, citizenM will become part of the Marriott Bonvoy system, enhancing Marriott’s portfolio in the select service segment.

Marriott plans to leverage its extensive development resources to grow the citizenM brand significantly. Marriott’s strategy includes a focus on technology-driven accommodation and high-quality experiences for travelers.
