Thailand and Italy Celebrate Founding of Their Capitals

A joint event commemorating the founding of Rome and Bangkok took place on April 21, highlighting cultural exchange and tourism between Thailand and Italy.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce hosted the Foundation of Rome & Bangkok Grand Celebration on April 21 at the Siri Sala Private Thai Villa.

The event celebrated the shared founding date of the capitals of Thailand and Italy, both established on April 21. TAT deputy governor for international marketing in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas, Chiravadee Khunsub, represented the tourism board at this event, which is part of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025.

In her remarks, Khunsub emphasized the significance of tourism and cultural exchange in enhancing international understanding and long-term bilateral relations.

A Showcase of Traditions and Innovations

The celebration featured live music, traditional performances, showcases by Italian businesses, and a panel discussion titled Bridging Cultures Through Tourism: Thailand & Italy in Focus. The evening concluded with a networking dinner aimed at fostering closer collaboration between Thai and Italian partners.

Italy continues to be a promising source market for Thailand with 267,000 visitors expected in 2024, showing strong momentum into 2025. With increasing demand for independent and sustainable travel and direct flights from Rome and Milan, TAT actively engages with Italian travelers through targeted marketing campaigns and partnerships.
