Philippine Pavilion at Expo 2025: Over 40,000 Visitors in Nine Days

The Philippine Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka has attracted significant attention, welcoming over 40,000 visitors in just the first nine days, showcasing Filipino culture and hospitality.

The Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) has announced that the nation’s pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, welcomed 40,252 visitors in just nine days after its grand opening on April 13.

Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco highlighted the turnout as a testament to the curiosity and admiration from international guests towards the pavilion.

Designed by the acclaimed Philippine architect Carlo Calma, the pavilion is celebrated as one of the must-see attractions of Expo 2025.

Frasco remarked: “This is more than an exhibition. It is a movement of culture, connection, and creativity that introduces the Philippines to a global audience in an unprecedented manner. The impressive attendance is a strong affirmation of our narrative, our people, and our culture’s beauty. It’s a triumphant debut and a proud moment for all Filipinos.”

An Open Invitation

Frasco further described the pavilion as an invitation from the Philippines to experience the hospitality of Filipinos and the breathtaking allure of its islands.

She welcomed everyone to discover why there is every reason to Love the Philippines.

On its second day, the pavilion welcomed Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, chairperson of Qatar Museums, who took a tour of the exhibition. DOT officials remarked that the pavilion had been included in the Sheikha’s itinerary due to her notable connection with the Filipino community in Qatar and the positive feedback it garnered.

An official statement from the department conveyed: “The Sheikha admired the Pavilion’s design and storytelling elements, taking extensive time to appreciate the artistic displays and mentioned she was interested in commissioning a similar piece, remarking on how the fusion of tradition and technology resonated with her.”

Showcasing Ingenuity and Innovation

The pavilion, anchored on the theme Nature, Culture, and Community: Woven Together for a Better Future, aims to highlight Philippine creativity and innovation. With its unique facade of 212 handwoven fabrics representing various Filipino regions and cutting-edge storytelling installations, it makes for a distinctive experience.

Its centerpiece, “Dancing with Nature,” is an interactive setup that engages visitors in the Filipino narrative using advanced algorithms.

Upcoming attractions include the Hilot Wellness Space to open next week, the Habi Gift Shop launching in May, and the pavilion mascot Kokoro-chan.
