StarCruises Launches Inaugural Voyage of Star Voyager from Thailand

The revitalized StarCruises brand celebrates its inaugural journey from Thailand, marking a significant milestone for Thailand's cruise tourism.

The recently revitalized StarCruises brand marked a significant moment with its inaugural sailing from Thailand, as the Star Voyager arrived at Laem Chabang Port, which serves as the gateway to Bangkok.

This notable event signals a new chapter for both StarCruises and Thailand, reinforcing the nation’s status as a prominent cruise hub in Southeast Asia.

To celebrate this milestone, Pattaraanong Na Chiangmai, Deputy Governor for International Marketing in Asia and the South Pacific at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), joined Michael Goh, President of StarDream Cruises, along with other officials at a special welcoming ceremony.

A New Homeport

Michael Goh shared his excitement for the launch: “We’re thrilled to homeport the Star Voyager in Bangkok as we introduce the revitalized StarCruises brand in Thailand. This launch marks a significant move in our vision to position Thailand as a cruise hub in Southeast Asia. With this deployment, we aim to attract a diverse range of travellers while bolstering the country’s tourism economy.”

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, remarked: “Today signifies a crucial milestone in enhancing Thailand’s tourism and maritime industry in line with the Thailand Government’s Policy.”

She further commented on Thailand’s competitiveness as a cruise destination, stating: “This event exemplifies the collaborative efforts of our dedicated team, partners, and stakeholders who worked diligently to bring this vision to fruition. Their tireless support has enabled us to showcase Thailand’s rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes to the world.”

Elevating the Cruise Experience

The Star Voyager, newly refurbished at the cost of $50 million, is set to provide Thai and international guests with an enhanced cruising experience, now departing from their doorstep.

The ship’s special maiden five-night itinerary from Bangkok embarked today, April 22, with another departure scheduled for May 7, visiting destinations including Ko Samui and Singapore.

As the Star Voyager makes its homeport debut, both Bangkok and Ko Samui are expected to gain from increased cruise traffic, further driving Thailand’s thriving cruise tourism sector.
