Successful Holy Week in Marbella Achieves Up to 90% Hotel Occupancy

Marbella has concluded Holy Week with occupancy rates peaking at 90%. From Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, many establishments reported full capacity, reflecting a significant success in attracting visitors.

Laura de Arce, the General Director of Marbella Tourism, expressed satisfaction with the positive outcomes, noting that “the figures obtained in the city, including visitor spending, have been spectacular.” Despite initial adverse weather predictions, tourist numbers exceeded expectations. “From our first interactions with hotel operators, the forecasts did not exceed 80%, but we anticipated a last-minute increase in bookings if the weather permitted, and that’s exactly what happened,” stated De Arce.

The high demand also positively impacted the restaurant sector, with hotels reporting increased spending from guests. Additionally, local dining establishments enjoyed excellent results, visible from the bustling streets and squares filled with visitors. The processions, which attracted large crowds since Palm Sunday, contributed to the festive atmosphere and commercial activity, in stark contrast to the previous year when rain hampered predictions.

In terms of visitor demographics, national tourists constituted the majority, followed by a substantial influx of international tourists, especially from the UK and Central European countries, as well as visitors from America and Canada, all seeking to immerse themselves in Marbella’s traditions during Holy Week.

De Arce concluded by mentioning that although official figures for April will take nearly a month to be finalized, the upcoming week is a holiday for much of Europe, suggesting that Marbella will continue to experience high occupancy rates.
