
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) announced that over 140,000 maritime passengers have traveled through various ports in the Philippines as of April 16, 2025.
On that day, there were 77,782 outbound and 68,890 inbound passengers reported by port authorities during the Holy Week exodus.
According to the PCG’s report, 4,748 personnel were deployed in 16 districts, overseeing inspections of 647 vessels and 1,113 motorboats.
Enhanced Security Measures
As of April 13, all PCG districts, stations, and sub-stations were placed on heightened alert to manage the anticipated surge of port passengers for Holy Week. This alert remains in effect until Easter Sunday, April 20, when travelers return home.
Based on passenger traffic data from the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), the country’s maritime passenger count averaged over 200,000 daily, starting from April 12. Here are specific numbers from the last few days:
- 234,268 passengers on Tuesday
- 194,922 passengers on Monday
- 217,389 passengers on Sunday
- 211,221 passengers on Saturday.
