American Airlines Rolls Out Free Wi-Fi for AAdvantage Members

Starting January 2026, American Airlines will offer complimentary Wi-Fi to loyalty members aboard the majority of its flights.

Starting in January 2026, AAdvantage members aboard approximately 90% of American Airlines’ fleet will gain access to complimentary Wi-Fi during flights. American Airlines has announced its move to provide free Wi-Fi as a reward for loyalty members, enhancing the travel experience for its customers.

The airline stated that free Wi-Fi will be available on flights equipped with Viasat or Intelsat high-speed satellite connectivity and plans to equip over 500 regional aircraft with this service.

A partnership with AT&T supports this initiative, marking a long-standing customer relationship, although AT&T is not providing the connectivity.

To ensure effective service, the airline conducted successful tests across select flights, exceeding performance expectations.

“Our customers greatly value staying connected while in the air, whether communicating with friends, getting work done, or streaming their favorite services,” said Heather Garboden, logging the importance of this development for American’s loyalty customers.

With this initiative, American Airlines becomes the last of the legacy carriers to provide complimentary Wi-Fi service to loyalty members, following Delta and United Airlines, who announced similar offerings in recent years.
