New Adventure Tour to Iraq Unveiled by Wild Frontiers

Wild Frontiers has introduced a new tour that explores the historical richness of Iraq, aiming to transform travel perceptions.

Wild Frontiers, a B Corp adventure travel company, has revealed a new group tour to Iraq, allowing travelers to discover one of the most historically rich destinations in the world. The 15-day tour, titled Iraq: Babylon & Beyond, encompasses the history and culture of major cities like Baghdad, Basra, and Babylon, alongside ancient archaeological sites such as Ur and Uruk, and the mountainous regions of Iraqi Kurdistan.

As part of the newly introduced Pioneer collection, this travel initiative is designed to challenge existing travel perceptions and inspire personal connections in diverse regions. Notable adventures may include observing gorillas in the Democratic Republic of Congo or wild camping in the Sahara deserts of Algeria.

While Iraq may not be the first place considered for a holiday, the country offers numerous surprises, including a boat journey into the heart of the Iraqi Marshlands, rich with unique wildlife and the opportunity to learn about the Marsh Arabs’ distinctive culture.

Visitors will explore Uruk, recognized as the world’s first city, and the ancient citadel of Erbil, as well as Al-Qurnah, possibly linked to the legendary Garden of Eden. Tourists can enjoy Baghdad’s vibrant culinary scene with its famed sandwiches.

Marc Leaderman, Director of Product and Operations at Wild Frontiers noted, “We began offering trips to Iraq in 2013 but had to suspend them the following year due to security concerns. However, a decade later, Iraq is seeing improved stability, and my recent visit revealed a strong sense of optimism about the future.” He expressed that travelers need to obtain special insurance for their journeys, acknowledging that visiting Iraq might not appeal to everyone but the adventure for those willing to explore is profound and rewarding.

This tour’s announcement follows a significant rise in adventure tourism, with bookings for 2025 surpassing those of 2024 by 20%. Popular destinations this year include Uzbekistan, Albania, Georgia, and Algeria.
