Seattle-Tacoma International Airport marks its 75th anniversary this year alongside the launch of a new international route to Taipei.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) recently celebrated its 75th anniversary on July 9, 2024. The festivities included the initiation of China Airlines’ new route from Taipei (TPE) to Seattle, which commenced on July 14, using an Airbus A350-900.
China Airlines began service from Taipei to Seattle on July 14, 2024.

A Look Back at SEA
Originally starting operations on July 9, 1949, SEA has evolved significantly since its humble beginnings, where the public could view aircraft on the ramp. The airport started with only eight gates and served around 130,549 passengers in its first year. Fast forward to now, and SEA accommodates an average of 140,000 passengers daily with 89 gates.

With this new route, China Airlines makes its entry to the U.S. Pacific Northwest as its sixth destination in North America, joining Delta Air Lines and EVA Air in servicing the TPE-Seattle route.
