InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping has recently been awarded LEED Gold Certification, making it the first hotel in Chiang Mai to earn this prestigious recognition. The hotel achieved a score of 65 out of 100 points, excelling in areas like water efficiency and innovation, reflecting its commitment to sustainability.

“When redesigning the iconic hotel that is now InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping, energy efficiency and sustainability were always at the forefront of our priorities,” said Adnan Yücel, General Manager. “We are immensely proud that our dedication has been recognized with LEED Gold Certification.”

Key Features of the Sustainable Design

The hotel emphasizes eco-friendliness through several innovative practices:

  • Utilizes 100% recycled water for landscaping.
  • Implements solar panels that cover more than 3% of energy costs.
  • Integrates energy-efficient glass for improved thermal performance.
  • Minimizes light pollution with strategic lighting design.

With over 45% of the property designated as open space, it fosters interactions with nature, promoting a healthier environment for both guests and staff.
