Akasa Air’s Expansion in Pet Travel

Akasa Air launched the Pets on Akasa service in November 2022 to facilitate safe and comfortable travel experiences for pets and their owners.

Key Achievements:

• Flown Over 6200 Pets: The service has successfully transported over 6200 pets, indicating a strong demand for pet-inclusive travel among Indian passengers.
• Service Enhancements: As of May 2024, the airline has raised the in-cabin pet weight limit to 10 kg (including the carrier) and lengthened the validity of pet travel certificates from 3 to 15 days, thereby improving travel convenience.
• Pet Statistics: Out of the 6200 pets flown, 66% were dogs and 34% were cats. Notably, Bengaluru accounted for 31% of all transported pets, followed closely by Delhi and Mumbai. The most frequented pet travel routes included Bengaluru-Delhi, Delhi-Bengaluru, and Mumbai-Delhi.

Customer Services:

Pet owners traveling with Akasa Air can avail themselves of additional services, such as a pre-booked window seat and priority check-in, boarding, and baggage handling, ensuring a premium travel experience. Furthermore, Akasa Air has collaborated with the Umeed for Animals Foundation to enhance pet comfort and safety in line with best practices.
