Fliggy Unveils Travel Data from the 2025 Qingming Festival

A recently released report from Fliggy reveals insights on travel trends during the Qingming Festival, highlighting increased international travel and domestic tourism.

Fliggy, Alibaba Group’s online travel platform, has recently published a report offering valuable travel insights from the three-day Qingming Festival holiday period that just passed.

Key Insights from the Report:

  • Many travelers extended their overseas trips by four days ahead of the holiday, resulting in nine-day international vacations.
  • Bookings for outbound trips surged by 20% compared to last year.
  • Sales of tickets for overseas attractions increased by 56%, while railway ticket sales abroad skyrocketed by 293%.
  • A 172% rise in overseas cruise bookings was also noted during the holiday season.

Popular Destinations The report identified popular outbound travel destinations including Japan, Hong Kong SAR, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, and others. Some travelers ventured further, planning trips to Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco among other destinations.

Domestic Travel Trends In terms of domestic tourism during Qingming Festival, per-capita spending was up nearly 5%. Many holiday-makers preferred medium-distance road trips, with car rentals growing by 41% year-on-year. Major cities visited included Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou, while second-tier cities like Zhangjiajie also saw increased traffic. Additionally, interest in outdoor activities soared, with tea-picking and cultural tours recording notable rises.
