The island city of Phu Quoc has been chosen to host the 2027 APEC Summit, marking Vietnam's third time serving as host for this significant event.

The Vietnamese government has officially designated the island of Phu Quoc to host the 2027 APEC Summit, marking a significant occasion as this is the third time Vietnam takes on this role.

Kien Giang Province is moving forward with investments in key infrastructure projects, which include:

  • Phu Quoc Airport expansion.
  • An Thoi International Port upgrades.
  • Development of the APEC Multifunctional Complex to accommodate high-ranking leaders and delegates from 21 member economies.

In preparation for this major event, Phu Quoc will construct a new 4E-class airport and expand various facilities to boost the travel experience for delegates. Key enhancements will include:

  • Extending the current runway to 3.5 km.
  • Creating a second runway measuring 3.3 km.
  • Building a new international terminal with a capacity of 20 million passengers.

Moreover, the An Thoi International Port will adapt to accommodate the world’s largest cruise ships. Upgrades will also involve road expansions and new rail lines to connect critical locations.

The APEC Multifunctional Complex is set to accommodate nearly 15,000 people, featuring a variety of facilities such as conference centers, an international press center, and space for performances, reaffirming Phu Quoc’s position as a premier MICE destination, enriching the local tourism sector.
