Air Canada Restarts Flights from London Heathrow to Ottawa
Air Canada has resumed its flights between London Heathrow and Ottawa, marking a significant step for their international service.
Air Canada, the largest airline in Canada, has announced the relaunch of flights between London Heathrow and Ottawa. This new international route is a significant step towards enhancing connectivity between the UK and Canada’s capital, offering the only direct flight from London to Ottawa.
The inaugural flight, AC889, took off from Heathrow at 14:05 yesterday and arrived in Ottawa at 16:25 local time after a brief celebration at Terminal 2.
During the summer, this service will run four times a week, leaving London on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, for a journey of just over seven hours.
Customers wishing to travel between Ottawa and London can book until October 25, 2025, with flights operated by Air Canada’s latest 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which include lie-flat seats in Business Class, as well as spacious Economy and Premium Economy cabins.
Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President, shared, “We are thrilled to resume our Ottawa trans-Atlantic services linking Canada’s capital city and London Heathrow, home to one of the world’s most iconic travel destinations and international gateways.”
He further added how this route supports various travel needs, including business trips, tourism, and family visits.
Ross Baker, Chief Customer Officer at Heathrow, remarked, “Heathrow is committed to offering passengers more choices than ever when it comes to traveling globally. The launch of this new route to Canada’s capital demonstrates our ongoing expansion of global connections.”
Ottawa is renowned for its cultural richness and outdoor accessibility, situated between Toronto and Montreal along the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Established as Canada’s capital in 1857, Ottawa is recognized for its vibrant atmosphere, stunning architecture, including the Canadian Parliament Buildings, and year-round events such as the Canadian Tulip Festival each May, which is the largest of its kind globally.
This summer, Air Canada will provide up to 63 weekly flights from Heathrow to Canada, along with direct services to cities like Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and now Ottawa.
