Avianca Initiates New Direct Routes to Enhance Connectivity
Avianca continues to expand its network to provide more connectivity options for travelers. The airline has announced the launch of four new direct routes:
- Tampa - Bogotá
- Fort Lauderdale - Medellín
- Miami - San José (Costa Rica)
- San Juan - San José (Costa Rica)
With this expansion, travelers can enjoy a wider range of possibilities to connect with destinations in the U.S. and the Caribbean.
Tampa - Bogotá
New Route Details: The new routes are operated using Airbus A320 family aircraft, accommodating 180 passengers each:
- Tampa – Bogotá: 1,440 available weekly seats
- Fort Lauderdale – Medellín: more than 2,520 weekly seats
- Miami – San José: 2,520 weekly seats
- San Juan – San José: three weekly flights
“In the past year, we transported more than 38 million passengers to domestic and international destinations while consolidating the largest route network in our history. Our new routes from Tampa to Bogotá, Fort Lauderdale to Medellín, and Miami to San José now have 43 direct routes connecting the U.S. with the rest of the Americas,” stated Frederico Pedreira, CEO of Avianca.

This development is crucial as Tampa becomes a significant gateway for access to Latin America, allowing passengers to connect via Bogotá to over 80 destinations across the Americas and Europe.

Through Bogotá, passengers will gain access to 25 domestic destinations in Colombia, enjoying various regions of the country.
