Institute of Hospitality Reaffirms Support for Tourism for All’s Accessibility Training Programs
The Institute of Hospitality (IoH) has renewed its endorsement of Tourism for All’s (TFA) online disability and accessibility awareness training courses. This renewal underscores TFA’s commitment to enhancing inclusivity within the tourism industry.
IoH’s ongoing support recognizes the excellence of TFA’s training, aimed at providing tourism businesses with the expertise necessary to improve accessibility for disabled travelers. TFA’s training initiatives are essential for addressing the needs of all customers, fostering a more inclusive tourism environment.
“This renewal reinforces our ongoing commitment to improving accessibility in the tourism sector. It reflects the growing industry recognition of the importance of providing services that cater to the needs of disabled travellers,” said Raymond Veal, CEO of Tourism for All.
TFA’s initiatives are making a notable difference. Its Travel Planner platform, which details accessible accommodation, attractions, and dining options, has experienced a 40% rise in user interaction year-on-year. Moreover, the economic impact of disabled travelers in the UK is significant, with the Purple Pound estimated at £14.6 billion annually. As the population of disabled individuals grows, businesses that adapt to this market are better poised for success.
The UK government aims to be Europe’s most accessible tourism destination by 2030, with a target of welcoming 50 million international visitors yearly. This goal emphasizes the need for establishments to make accessibility an integral part of their operations. By eliminating barriers and promoting inclusivity, the tourism industry can tap into new growth avenues, creating a more equitable and flourishing tourism landscape.
Robert Richardson, CEO of the Institute of Hospitality, stated, “We are proud to continue our endorsement of Tourism for All’s online training courses. Their efforts set new standards for accessibility and inclusion, ensuring that the tourism sector is welcoming to all visitors.”
