MOL Cruises Expands Fleet with Purchase of Seabourn Sojourn
MOL Cruises announces its acquisition of another vessel from Seabourn Cruises to enhance its operations in Japan.
MOL Cruises, operator of Japan’s Mitsui Ocean Cruises, has announced the purchase of the Seabourn Sojourn from Seabourn Cruises.
The vessel was handed over on March 4, 2025, and is a sister ship to MOL’s Mitsui Ocean Fuji, formerly known as the Seabourn Odyssey.
Next year, the Seabourn Sojourn will operate as a Japan-flagged vessel, providing a variety of itineraries, including short and medium-term cruises in Japanese waters.
This acquisition is part of MOL Group’s strategy to broaden its cruise offerings ahead of two new vessels set to launch in the near future.
A Compact Vessel
Utilizing its compact design, with a total length under 200 meters, the Seabourn Sojourn can dock at both large and small ports, including those in the Seto Inland Sea, as well as remote islands such as Okinawa and Hokkaido. The ship features public spaces including an outdoor deck both on the roof and the bow and stern.
MOL officials stated, “With the addition of this vessel, we will further enhance the travel options for our customers, delivering a unique Japanese hospitality experience aboard Mitsui Ocean Cruises.”
