AirAsia Malaysia Expands Flight Services to Australia, Introducing Route to Darwin

AirAsia Malaysia announces a new direct route from Kuala Lumpur to Darwin, enhancing international travel connection.

AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK) has unveiled its expansion into Australia with a new flight route from Kuala Lumpur to Darwin, strengthening its international travel offerings.

Starting on June 27, 2025, travelers will benefit from additional, economical options to discover Darwin, the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory, with four flights scheduled each week. This city is remarkable for its stunning scenery and cultural heritage, including experiences like watching sunsets at Mindil Beach and visiting the world-renowned Kakadu National Park.

AirAsia’s move includes adding Darwin to its operation after launching its services to Australia with routes to Perth and Cairns. The airline has carried over 600,000 passengers between Malaysia and Australia in the past year, with this new route further establishing its commitment to enhancing tourism links between the two nations.

Minister Robyn Cahill emphasized the significance of this new connection: “This route will enhance air travel accessibility and provide more affordable options for residents and businesses in the Territory.”

Dato’ Captain Fareh Mazputra expressed their excitement: “Launching our inaugural flight to Darwin opens new gateways for both leisure and business travelers, offering a unique experience beyond major tourist destinations.”

To celebrate the launch, AirAsia is offering promotional fares starting from RM299 one-way, with bookings available until March 30, 2025. Flights are scheduled for travel from June 27 to October 25, 2025.
