The Viking Nerthus is the latest addition to the Viking fleet, revealed on March 19 at Meyer’s Neptun Werft shipyard in Rockstock-Warnemuende, Germany.
This new ship is set to operate along the scenic Seine River in France, joining its sister vessels.

Viking’s Chair and CEO, Torstein Hagen, expressed pride in the new vessel: “We are delighted to welcome the Viking Nerthus to our growing fleet of award-winning Viking Longships. France continues to be a destination of great interest for our guests. With the arrival of our newest ship on the Seine River, we look forward to introducing even more curious travelers to the region’s rich history and cultural treasures in ‘the Viking way.’”

This addition marks a significant milestone as Viking expands its fleet, with plans to deliver 25 new river ships by 2028 and nine ocean ships by 2030. By then, Viking will boast 109 river ships and 21 ocean vessels.

The Viking Nerthus, hosting 168 guests in 84 staterooms, adheres to Viking’s renowned Scandinavian design and is similar to other sister ships such as the Viking Kari and Viking Radgrid. It features a distinctive square bow, an Aquavit Terrace, and various stateroom options. Notably, the vessel includes a hybrid propulsion system along with renewable energy sources, contributing to its eco-friendliness.

With two distinct itineraries available, including roundtrips from Paris with views of Giverny, Rouen, and the beaches of Normandy, the Viking Nerthus is ready to welcome its guests starting from March through December. The Viking fleet also enjoys exclusive docking privileges at Port du Grenelle, just a brief walk from the Eiffel Tower.
