Gili Lankanfushi Maldives Achieves Gold Certification from EarthCheck
Gili Lankanfushi Maldives has been awarded Gold Certification from EarthCheck, reinforcing its dedication to sustainability in luxury hospitality.
Pioneering Maldivian luxury resort Gili Lankanfushi Maldives has recently been granted Gold Certification from EarthCheck, the world’s leading organization for sustainable travel. This accolade follows their silver and bronze certifications in previous years, showcasing their long-term commitment to environmental sustainability.
The certification is awarded to properties that demonstrate a consistent dedication to sustainability through energy, water usage, and carbon emissions management. Gili Lankanfushi is now one of just three resorts in the Maldives to hold this designation.
“We are extremely proud to have achieved Gold Certification by EarthCheck,” said Rodrigo Buanafina, the Resort Manager. “Gili is passionate about preserving its natural beauty and reducing environmental impact through multiple sustainability initiatives, including our Eco Centre and Coral Lines project.”
The Eco Centre, which was recently renovated, features extensive recycling and composting facilities. Notable additions include a food composter and a glass-crushing machine, aiding in the resort’s green efforts. Guests are encouraged to partake in these sustainability practices through various workshops and conservation activities.
All buildings are constructed using sustainable materials, and the resort provides organic toiletries to minimize plastic usage. Gili Lankanfushi exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to luxury while taking environmental stewardship seriously.
