A new report from American Express Travel reveals insights into the shifting travel trends for the upcoming year.

American Express Travel’s 2025 Global Travel Trends report highlights generational differences in travel planning among Millennials, Gen Z, Gen X, and Baby Boomers. Here are the four key trends:

  1. Memorable Mementos: Travelers are prioritizing unique souvenirs that encapsulate their experiences. 82% of Millennials and Gen Z seek one-of-a-kind items compared to 68% of older generations.

  2. Fam Adventures: Increasingly popular are multi-generational vacations where extended families participate, with 81% of surveyed respondents favoring family-friendly destinations.

  3. Benefit Aficionados: Travelers now maximize credit card rewards, with 61% of Millennials and Gen Z utilizing them compared to 36% of older travelers.

  4. Tap In, Take Off: New technologies are reshaping travel journeys, aiding 83% of Millennials and Gen Z in booking processes versus just 64% of older generations.

Overall, 77% of respondents indicated plans to engage in more international trips in 2025 compared to the previous year, emphasizing a blend of passion and practicality in their travel ambitions.
