Indonesian Ministry of Tourism Advocates for Cleanliness at Tourist Attractions
The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism underscores the importance of cleanliness to enhance the nation’s tourism appeal.
Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism is actively promoting cleanliness as a critical factor in enhancing the attractiveness of tourist destinations across the nation.
In line with the Ministry’s Clean Tourism Movement (GWB), this initiative aims to improve Indonesia’s ranking as a global tourism destination. Currently ranked 89th out of 114 countries when it comes to cleanliness and health protocols, the government aspires to place Indonesia in the top 60 cleanest global destinations.
How the GWB Helps
The GWB aims to enhance the hygiene and health standards in tourist areas. This includes guiding micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) on hygienic practices for food preparation and service.
Jemadu noted that many food items sold in tourist spots do not meet cleanliness standards, stating, “This indicates that the cleanliness and hygiene are still sorely lacking, and we will make it a point to make improvements.”
