Philippines Remains Hopeful on Growing Tourism Revenue
The Philippine government expresses optimism about the ongoing rise in tourism revenues following strong performance indicators in January.
The Philippine government has expressed optimism about the growth of tourism revenue, citing excellent earnings reported by the Department of Tourism (DOT) in January 2025.
In just two months, over 1.1 million foreign travelers arrived in the Philippines via various air and sea hubs.
During a press briefing at Malacañang Palace, Claire Castro, the undersecretary and Palace press officer, mentioned that tourism revenues surpassed pre-pandemic levels, beginning the year with approximately US$1.1 billion.
Expecting Further Growth
Castro anticipated continued positive growth in the tourism sector due in part to streamlined immigration procedures, stating: “We expect the continued increase of revenues over the coming months, given the planned improvements for inbound immigration procedures.”
She highlighted that the surge in tourism revenue can be attributed to the stable peace and order in the country, adding: “Foreign tourists are not afraid to come to our country.”
