Nature’s Village Resort in Central Philippines Achieves Top Recognition in Green Destinations Awards
Central Philippines’ Nature’s Village Resort has been honored with first place at the Green Destinations Top 100 Story Awards for its commitment to environmental sustainability.
Recognition for Sustainability
The Nature’s Village Resort in Negros Occidental, Philippines received top honors by earning first place in the Environment and Climate category at the global Green Destinations Top 100 Story Awards. This prestigious award ceremony took place at ITB Berlin on March 4.
On social media, resort officials asserted:
“This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.”
The three other entries from Negros Occidental contended for a place but only the Nature’s Village Resort emerged victorious for the country.
The awards celebrate innovative and sustainable tourism practices globally, showcasing significant efforts from diverse destinations.
Sustainable Practices
The resort highlighted its successful initiatives under the title Nature’s Way: Fostering Sustainable Practices and Positive Environmental Impact. Key achievements include:
- Vermiculture for compost production
- Eco-bricks program to minimize waste
- Installation of solar panels leading to reduced electricity costs
- Selling surplus food waste to local farmers
Officials also raised awareness regarding pressing local issues such as pollution and waste management:
“Reducing our carbon footprint by growing our own vegetables, eradicating single-use plastics, and consciously minimizing greenhouse gas emissions are among our strong interventions.”
A Note on Regional Recognition
In a related effort, Bago City, also in Negros Occidental, secured third place in the same category, promoting Regenerative Agritourism to enhance local economic recovery and prioritizing sustainable tourism principles.
