Agoda: Asian Women Embrace New Travel Destinations and Shared Experiences

Agoda's report highlights the trends in women’s travel, emphasizing their growing interest in new destinations and shared adventures.

As the world prepares to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, Agoda has published a report showcasing trends in women’s travel for 2025.

According to the findings, women’s specific travel needs are significantly influencing the future of the industry. Notably, women in Asia are at the forefront of exploring new destinations with family and friends, driven by a keen interest in adventure and camaraderie.

Agoda’s Chief Financial Officer, Mai-Linh, stated: “At Agoda, we’re thrilled to see how women are shaping the travel landscape in Asia. New Destinations Await

The quest to discover new places is a significant factor, with 60% of women keen on this journey compared to 53% of men. Specifically, women from India and Indonesia show considerable enthusiasm, with 80% and 69% respectively eager to explore.

This eagerness for new experiences reflects a broader trend towards curiosity and the embrace of diverse cultures and landscapes.

Asian women are increasingly inclined to travel with family, with 40% preferring these trips compared to 28% of men. Indonesian women are particularly enthusiastic, with 68% expressing a desire for family adventures, underscoring the value they place on shared experiences.

The Joy of Solo Travel

While more men prefer solo travel (24% compared to 15% of women), Hong Kong and Thai women are at the forefront of solo adventures, at 25% and 22% respectively. This underscores a growing appetite for personal growth and self-discovery through travel.

The survey also indicates that most Asian travelers, irrespective of gender, lean towards trips lasting five to ten days, with women favoring this duration at 48%, in contrast to 40% of men.
