Birmingham Airport Unveils New Security Screening Lanes

Birmingham Airport has launched two additional security lanes as part of its preparations for a busy travel season ahead.

As Birmingham Airport ramps up for its busiest year, they’ve announced the introduction of two new security screening lanes designed to enhance passenger experiences this summer.

These cutting-edge lanes, which come with a £5 million investment, will complement the already existing £60 million security facility that opened last year. In light of new regulations concerning liquids, the airport has been proactive in preventing long queues to ensure a seamless travel experience for passengers.

The newly launched lanes aim to accommodate approximately 3,600 passengers per hour during peak times, contingent upon compliance with liquid regulations. Travelers should ensure that they pack only containers smaller than 100ml and be mindful of other requirements for security checks.

Al Titterington, the Terminal Operations Director, stated: “Last summer, some passengers faced significant delays, prompting our focus on improving our efficiency to facilitate a quicker passage for our customers.”

These additional lanes will be operational based on demand during peak travel times, with security officers assigned accordingly. The airport continues to communicate with the government in hopes of lifting certain liquid restrictions before the summer travel season.
