TKS Hosts Hong Kong Outbound Seminar in Tokyo

The seminar emphasized the growing trend of inbound travel to Japan from Hong Kong.

TKS revived its annual Hong Kong Outbound Seminar for the first time since the pandemic last 13th February.

The event, focused on the trend of inbound travel from Japan into Hong Kong, was held at the Tokyo International Forum.

Organized by TKS, approximately 30 participants from 22 Japanese organizations attended the two-hour seminar.

Insightful Talks Among the speakers were representatives from the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) Japan Office, TKS, and Infinity Communications, which brought a group of Japanese exhibitors to the event.

The HKTB highlighted Hong Kong’s strengths as an international MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination and a gateway to China’s Greater Bay Area, which recorded a total GDP of US$1.97 trillion in 2023.

TKS shared insights on Hong Kong outbound travel statistics, noting a quality recovery where spending had recovered more than departures, while the main recovery driver was noted to be FIT (Free Independent Traveler), as package tours continued to recover slowly.

With nearly half of trade visitors coming from neighboring areas and most public visitors primarily being premium FIT, TKS explained how ITE (International Travel Expo) can assist exhibitors in tapping into the fastest recovering markets within the Greater Asian region.
