Rise in Hotel Occupancy Expectations for Andalucía Bridge

The Costa del Sol anticipates hotel occupancy rates to exceed 72% during the upcoming Andalucía Bridge, prompting optimism among local businesses despite potential weather-related challenges.

The Costa del Sol’s Hotel Business Association (Aehcos) has projected a hotel occupancy rate of 72.84% for the upcoming Andalucía Bridge, which runs from February 28 to March 2, 2025. This marks an increase of more than 3 percentage points compared to 2023, where occupancy stood at 69.18%. It is important to note that there was no bridge observed in 2024 as Andalucía Day fell on a Wednesday.

Despite these optimistic forecasts, Aehcos emphasizes that these figures are merely estimates, as the final occupancy will depend on factors like the weather and last-minute bookings.

Occupancy by municipality

The projections suggest the eastern part of the province will lead in occupancy. Frigiliana-Torrox tops the list with a remarkable forecast of 97%, followed by Nerja at 90.44%. Fuengirola and Benalmádena also stand out, with estimated occupancy rates of 89.55% and 89.09% respectively. Marbella is expected to reach 82.64%.

From Aehcos’s Executive Committee’s perspective, the final outcome will depend on the weather forecasts, which currently are not very promising. This could lead to cancellations or, conversely, a surge in last-minute bookings should conditions improve.

With these outlooks, the Costa del Sol’s hotel sector gears up for a lengthy weekend that could significantly boost the local economy.
