Etihad Airways Reports Record Profit of $476 Million in 2024

Etihad Airways achieved significant growth in passenger numbers and revenue, marking the highest earnings in its history.

Etihad Airways has disclosed its financial performance for 2024, showcasing impressive results with a net profit of AED 1.7 billion (approximately USD 476 million) after tax. This remarkable profit stems from passenger revenues of AED 20.8 billion (USD 5.7 billion) and cargo revenues of AED 4.2 billion (USD 1.1 billion), driven by operational efficiencies and a growing customer base.

The airline successfully transported 18.5 million passengers in 2024, marking a 32% increase from the previous year. This boost in passenger numbers was complemented by a significant 28% rise in Available Seat Kilometres (ASK) and a passenger load factor improvement, reaching 87% in FY24 compared to 86% in 2023.

Total revenue surged 25% year-over-year, reaching AED 25.3 billion (USD 6.9 billion), largely influenced by strong performances in both passenger and cargo sectors. The increase in passenger revenue alone amounted to AED 4.2 billion (USD 1.1 billion), and cargo revenue rose 24%, demonstrating high demand and operational capacity expansion.

During 2024, Etihad expanded its reach to over 1,700 weekly flights, adding frequencies to 25 routes and introducing more than 20 new destinations, including cities like Boston, Jaipur, Bali, and Nairobi. The airline’s fleet saw an expansion with the addition of 12 new aircraft, including six A320 NEOs and the reactivation of its fifth A380, solidifying its position as a leader in operational efficiency in the region.

In a continued effort to enhance customer experience, Etihad launched a significant AED 3 billion retrofit program aimed at improving cabin comfort and overall inflight services, alongside introducing a dedicated premium call center to provide faster and personalized service.

The airline’s loyalty program, Etihad Guest, also celebrated a milestone, with membership exceeding 10 million. Etihad received numerous accolades from industry organizations, such as Best Cabin Crew and Best Customer Experience from World Travel Awards, and was named Environmental Airline of the Year by AirlineRatings.com for the third consecutive year.

Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa expressed gratitude to their guests and the Etihad family, highlighting the airline’s commitment to excellence and service quality. Antonoaldo Neves, the CEO, emphasized the continued dedication of the employees, which has led to significant improvements in customer satisfaction and sustainable growth.
