Tourism Malaysia Attracts Indian Visitors at SATTE 2025

Tourism Malaysia returned to the SATTE, aiming to strengthen ties with Indian travelers through targeted campaigns.

Tourism Malaysia made its mark at the South Asia’s Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE) for the 21st time this year.

One of India’s largest tourism fairs, this three-day event took place from February 19 to 21 in Delhi. Tourism Malaysia’s participation aligns with its effort to maintain Malaysia as an attractive tourist destination for Indian travelers.

During this exchange, the tourism board promoted niche products such as shopping, golf, luxury tourism, soft tourism, theme parks, and honeymoon packages in line with their Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.

A Prime Destination for Events

Additionally, Tourism Malaysia emphasized its capabilities in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sectors, leveraging their recent recognition as the Best MICE Destination 2024 in the Indian market.

As SATTE 2025 drew over 40,000 trade visitors, Tourism Malaysia officials foresee a considerable surge in Indian tourist arrivals, driven by enhanced promotion and collaboration between tour operators and tourism stakeholders.

The delegation was led by Ahmad Johanif Mohd Ali, Director of the Tourism Malaysia New Delhi office, together with representatives from 58 organizations spanning tour agents, hotel operations, tourism product owners, and airline operators.

Commitment to the Indian Market

Ali remarked at the event: “Tourism Malaysia is dedicated to attracting a growing number of Indian visitors, catering to their diverse preferences. The Indian market has been a key source of visitors to Malaysia for over two decades. With the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign, we aim to significantly boost arrivals from India.”

India stands as Malaysia’s sixth-largest source of visitors, with 1.4 million arrivals recorded in 2024 among a total of 38 million visitors. Notably, 240 flights with 45,672 seats are offered weekly between the two countries, facilitated by airlines like Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, AirAsia, and IndiGo.

To further encourage travel, Tourism Malaysia highlighted the announcement of a visa-free policy for Indian travelers valid until December 31, 2026.
