Turkish Airlines to Launch Daily Flights from Istanbul to Sydney by January 2026

Turkish Airlines plans to increase flights from Istanbul to Sydney to daily by January 2026, enhancing travel options between Australia and Turkey.

Just months after its inaugural flight to Sydney, Turkish Airlines is set to increase its services from Istanbul Airport (IST) to Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD). Starting mid-June 2025, the airline will boost its current four-weekly flights to five-weekly, reaching six-weekly by October, and finally offering daily flights by January 12, 2026.

The flights will be operated by Airbus A350-900 with a stopover at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). The airline hinted at the potential introduction of a non-stop service between Istanbul and Sydney by 2026, depending on timely aircraft delivery.

Greg Botham, Sydney Airport’s Group Executive for Aviation Growth, shared his excitement regarding Turkish Airlines’ decision. “The move to daily services shortly after launching in Sydney showcases confidence in this market,” he stated. He emphasized that this expansion will improve connectivity between Australia and Turkey, benefiting both business and leisure travellers.

“This solidifies Sydney Airport as Turkish Airlines’ primary gateway in Australia, reinforcing our status as the nation’s top international hub,” Botham emphasized. He also expressed anticipation for the potential non-stop flights to further enhance travel between the two countries.

This ambitious growth plan from Turkish Airlines reflects its commitment to offering greater convenience for travellers and strengthening the relationship between Australia and Turkey.
