Aranui Cruises Honors Female Crew Members Aboard Aranui 5
The cruise line celebrated the contributions of its female crew in recognition of International Women’s Day.
Aranui Cruise Event
Aranui Cruises director of marketing, communication, and operations Romina Wong gathered together a group of female crew members aboard the Aranui 5 in recognition of their contributions to the company.
This commemorative event comes ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8.
The Crew and Their Contributions
Affectionately known as the freighter to paradise, Aranui 5 is based in Papeete, Tahiti, and is staffed by an all-Polynesian crew, 51 of whom are women. Currently, a total of 76 women work with the company.
Celebrating Gender Equality
The Wong family, which owns and operates Aranui Cruises, holds strong beliefs in workplace equality, ensuring that women occupy the same places within the organization as men, participating equally in decision-making roles. Women play essential roles, especially in hospitality management, but others have also taken on traditionally male-held positions.
Wong said: “I think we are starting to see more gender equality in the workplace and the female contribution is being recognized more, bringing with it greater creativity, energy, and compassion as well as an understanding of human relationships, which are often key factors in customer-facing roles. We believe that women can manage a ship or a team just as effectively as men.”
She also remarked how fortunate Aranui Cruises is to enjoy low staff turnover, with some employees remaining with the company for as long as four decades. This stability is a testament to the rewarding environment the company fosters.
