Rafael Urquizar Unveils 'Vanguard' Collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid
The designer showcases his latest collection in a stunning presentation, emphasizing Malaga's cultural influence in fashion.
In an exceptional setting, the Teatro del Soho, in front of the mural “Todos los mundos posibles” by artist José Luis Puche, Malaga designer Rafael Urquizar presented his new collection ‘Vanguard’. This event is part of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, scheduled to take place on February 19, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Movistar Arena (WiZink Center).
Urquizar, the only designer from Málaga participating in this prestigious fashion week, was accompanied by Elisa Pérez de Siles, the delegate councillor for commerce at the Málaga City Council, and Esperanza González Pazos, the provincial deputy for sustainable economic development. González emphasized the commitment to supporting Málaga’s fashion scene, highlighting the initiative “Málaga de Moda,” which has already attracted over a hundred members. “This sector generates many jobs, and I am convinced that ‘Vanguard’ will be a spectacle that will position Málaga on the map,” she stated.
Moreover, Pérez de Siles highlighted the influence of Málaga’s art and culture within the national sphere thanks to Urquizar’s participation in the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. “This year’s collection reflects the evolution of Málaga as a reference in art and culture,” she stated, additionally noting that the Urquizar woman is “elegant, feminine, modern, and cultured.”
Urquizar also expressed gratitude to the institutions for their support and explained that his collection aims to transform the woman wearing it into a bearer of culture, merging art history with modernity. His Autumn-Winter 2025/26 collection is inspired by the avant-garde artistic movements of the 20th century, featuring 36 designs that are true works of art. With a color palette including nude tones, forest green, and magenta, and a variety of fabrics from wool to silk, Urquizar promises that each garment will tell a unique story. The catwalk show is supported by Málaga de Moda and various collaborations, reinforcing the growth of Málaga’s textile sector. The ‘Vanguard’ collection not only signifies a new phase in Urquizar’s career but also represents the rebirth and international projection of Málaga’s fashion.
