Pakistan Implements Major Visa Policy Changes

The Pakistani government revamps its visa system to facilitate easier access for travelers from 126 nations.

The Pakistani government has unveiled a significant enhancement to its visa policies following suggestions made during the 2024 National Tourism Symposium.

Under this refreshed visa system, citizens from 126 countries can now acquire a Visa Prior to Arrival, with a validity of 90 days at no charge. This reform is directed at boosting foreign tourism and making access to Pakistan’s natural splendor easier.

Aftab Ur Rehman Rana, the managing director of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, announced that this move represents a pivotal progression in the nation’s tourism policy. He stated:

“The new simplified visa application procedure and the implementation of visa-free entry for the nationals of 126 countries exemplify a goodwill initiative from the Government of Pakistan.”

He expressed optimism that other nations might reciprocate, thereby enhancing travel opportunities for Pakistani citizens abroad.

Who Benefits from the Updated Visa Policies?

Currently, the initiative encompasses major Middle Eastern nations, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, allowing their citizens to enjoy 90 days of visa-free entry into Pakistan.

This modification is anticipated to greatly increase the number of tourists arriving from these regions.

By revising its visa policies, Pakistan seeks to position itself as an inviting and diverse travel destination, showcasing everything from the striking Karakoram mountains to the rich cultural experiences found in the southern Indus River delta.

The changes further highlight Pakistan’s commitment to creating a welcoming and tourist-friendly environment, contributing to the growth and diversity of its travel and tourism industry.
