Carnival Corporation has announced significant changes for the Australian cruise market, notably by dissolving the P&O Cruises Australia brand. This transition will see two of its three ships incorporated into the Carnival Cruise Line fleet, promising a new era of adventure for Australian travelers.
A New Era of Fun
The brands’ two ships, Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter, will be rebranded as Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter, effectively doubling Carnival Cruise Line’s presence in Australia.
Carnival Adventure will operate year-round from Sydney alongside Carnival Splendor, while Carnival Encounter will sail from Brisbane, sharing the harbor with Carnival Luminosa.
The fun begins in March 2025, with upcoming enhancements and new experiences being introduced.
Signature Carnival Experiences
Sales and marketing VP, Kara Glamore, expressed enthusiasm for this change: “This transition presents a unique opportunity to combine the best of P&O Cruises Australia and Carnival Cruise Line as the brand expands its footprint in Australia.” Activities on board will feature the Fun Squad, hosting games and themed dance parties like the 80s Rock-N-Glow Party.
Dining and Activities
Guests can enjoy complimentary pizza during designated hours and engage their little ones in the Turtles program designed for children under two. Other features will include traditional Carnival favorites such as Build-a-Bear activities and sensory kits.
Honoring P&O Cruises Heritage
While embracing the Carnival fun, the ships will keep some beloved features from P&O Cruises. Deborah Cogin, VP of Guest Experience, stated, “P&O fans will recognize many of their favorite dining and entertainment options, while experiencing the added fun and flair that Carnival is known for worldwide.”
Looking Ahead
In 2025, Carnival Cruise Line anticipates nearly 600,000 guests sailing out of Sydney and Brisbane. Kara Glamore emphasized Carnival’s ongoing commitment to the Australian cruise market, helping support local jobs and deliver unforgettable holiday experiences.
Now, Carnival passengers can expect various itineraries from Sydney and Brisbane, including exciting stops at destinations like Vanuatu and New Caledonia.
