Thailand Surpasses 35 Million Arrivals Target

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced that the country has exceeded its target of welcoming 35 million international tourists this year, generating over 1.8 trillion Baht in tourism revenue.

This significant milestone underscores Thailand’s strong recovery in tourism, paving the way for an even more prosperous 2025, which is designated as the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year.

With goals of attracting between 36 and 39 million visitors next year and generating 1.98 to 2.23 trillion Baht in revenue, Thailand is set to enhance its role as a premier global tourism destination, providing exceptional experiences while promoting sustainable economic growth.

Key Factors in Achieving Targets TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool highlighted that strategic government initiatives were pivotal in enhancing Thailand’s appeal as a world-class travel destination.

As of December 27, Thailand welcomed a total of 35,047,501 visitors globally. The success was attributed to several key policies, such as the visa exemption for citizens of 93 countries for stays of up to 60 days, and the removal of TM.6 immigration forms at 16 border points to streamline entry processes, significantly facilitating travel and attracting more visitors.

The Role of Aviation The aviation sector also contributed significantly by resuming and introducing international flight routes from various global cities, increasing total airline seat capacity to 47 million in 2024, marking an approximate 26 percent rise from 2023. During the December high season, over 311 additional flights were scheduled to add more than 70,000 seats.

High-profile events, festivals like the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2024, and features related to popular media captivated audiences worldwide, further enhancing Thailand’s tourist appeal.
