Cebu Pacific celebrated World Children’s Day by hosting an airport familiarization tour at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA)’s Terminal 3.
Participants included children on the autism spectrum and those with Down syndrome, alongside their guardians. Together with the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) and the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines (DSAPI), this event provided attendees with a real-time experience of the preflight process.
Ten participants were guided through the steps of check-in, security screening, and boarding, aimed at making the journey more familiar.
A More Inclusive Experience
Candice Iyog from Cebu Pacific stated: “Cebu Pacific is committed to breaking travel barriers and fostering inclusivity by creating a more supportive and predictable environment for individuals with autism and Down syndrome.”
She further mentioned that the initiative seeks to alleviate anxiety, instill confidence, and prepare participants for air travel. “Inclusivity is not just a value for us; it drives our innovation and service to passengers. By allowing children to experience the airport process in a safe and encouraging environment, we empower every traveler and reinforce our mission to make air travel available to all.”
A Vital Partnership
The event marked a formal partnership with ASP through a recently signed memorandum of agreement, which aims to raise awareness and acceptance of autism within the travel and tourism industries.
“We are thrilled to partner with Cebu Pacific in championing inclusivity,” said Dang Koe. “While awareness of autism has seen significant growth, more work is required to seek acceptance and accommodation for people on the spectrum. Cebu Pacific’s support for Autism-OK Philippines is a major step toward creating an inclusive community.”
Cebu Pacific is resolute in its commitment to making air travel an inviting experience for all, actively promoting inclusivity and acceptance in the Industry.
