The Philippine Department of Tourism has highlighted a successful year at global tourism events, securing about $49 million in sales leads throughout 2024.
During these events, Secretary Christina Frasco emphasized the importance of showcasing the country’s rich cultural and natural attractions while enhancing the tourism sector.
Frasco stated:
“In the Philippines, we offer experiential tourism that reflects our unique identity, culture, and heritage. Our National Tourism Development Plan [NTDP] is designed to showcase the diversity of our offerings, from stunning beaches and famous dive spots to cultural experiences and culinary delights.”
She also mentioned the significant impact of participating in major global fairs like the Arabian Travel Market, ITB Berlin, and the World Travel Market London, as well as local initiatives like the North Luzon Travel Expo.
Catering to Diverse Tastes
The DOT aims to continually expand its tourism offerings and reach diverse travelers. Frasco underlined that their strategy is to create a comprehensive travel experience that enhances the Philippines’ global appeal.
Additionally, the Philippine Experience Program (PEP) encompasses 11 regions and aims to connect travelers with local cultures, enhancing engagement between tourists and communities. This program will be expanded through partnerships with notable tourism organizations.
These initiatives are expected to transform PEP programming into well-curated travel packages aimed at both local and international visitors.
