Germany and Italy to Expand Work Visa Opportunities by 2025

Germany and Italy enhance work visa options to attract foreign workers amidst labor shortages.

As European nations face labor shortages, Germany and Italy are focusing on increasing work visa issuance to attract migrants.

Both countries are introducing initiatives like the Opportunity Card, which will permit skilled workers with basic language knowledge to work in Germany.

The new Skilled Immigration Act has successfully drawn thousands of skilled professionals, with projections showing over 177,000 visas issued to foreign workers in 2023, set to increase to 200,000 in 2024.

Efforts to modernize the application process are underway, enhancing digital access for immigrant candidates. As Germany confronts over 400,000 skill vacancies, this push to issue 165,000 work visas in 2025, up from 151,000 in 2024, is crucial.

Additionally, an increase in seasonal worker visas to total 93,550 is expected due to rising demand in agriculture and hospitality sectors.
