Celebrating Five Years of Digital Transformation in Oman

Visit Oman marks a significant milestone as it turns five, showcasing its achievements in digitally bridging local tourism with the global market.

Visit Oman, the National Travel Operator and a subsidiary of OMRAN Group, is commemorating its five-year anniversary by highlighting its journey of digitally connecting Oman to the global market. This initiative has empowered local tourism suppliers and SMEs by facilitating global digital distribution across travel trade and consumer platforms.

Eng. Ayad Ali Al Balushi, Group CEO of OMRAN Group, stated, “Five years ago, Visit Oman aimed to make booking Oman seamless and accessible to the world, while ensuring long-term sustainability for our local tourism providers.” The platform now functions as a unified travel platform, bridging global demand with Omani supply through advanced technology.

During the past five years, Visit Oman developed a fully digital B2B booking platform, achieved International Air Transport Association (IATA) certification, and integrated with the Global Distribution System (GDS). Notably, it has partnered with over 85 airlines, including Oman Air and Salam Air, and collaborated with more than 140 hotels across Oman, onboarding over 390 trade partners from 55 countries and connecting with over 250 local tourism providers, 80% of whom are SMEs.

In 2024, Visit Oman introduced the ‘Digital Travel Hub’ (B2B2C), which facilitates global distribution of Omani tours in multiple languages across 170 markets. It also launched Oman’s first licensed short-stay accommodation platform, expanding visitor options with eco-lodges and heritage inns.

Shabib Mohamed Al Maamari, Managing Director of Visit Oman, emphasized ongoing efforts to expand digital distribution of Omani tourism experiences and bolstering local providers. Visit Oman continues to align with government objectives for diversification and sustainable growth, enhancing the consumer journey from inspiration to conversion.
